DESCRIPTION:The 26th annual History of Medicine Days Conference will be a  two-day\, national and international conference held at the University of Calgary on Friday\, March 17th and Saturday\, March 18th\, 2017. \nUndergraduate students from across Canada\, the United States\, and Overseas are invited to submit an abstract for an oral or poster presentation on the history of medicine and health care. \nTopics will cover a wide range\, including the Classics\, the History of Public Health\, Nursing\, Veterinary Medicine\, Human Biology and Neuroscience\, etc. Prizes will be awarded in different categories and all active participants are invited to join us at the Awards Banquet on the last evening of the conference \nKeynote Speaker: Professor Paul Weindling\, Oxford Brookes University\, Oxford\, United Kingdom.

SUMMARY:Patient-Oriented Research Training Program: Models of patient engagement
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our second session as we talk about patient engagement in Patient Oriented Research. \nHosted by the Career Development Platform of the Alberta SPOR SUPPOR Unit. \nGuest Speaker: Dr. Lisa Petermann is a Program Coordinator with the Patient Engagement Platform for the SPOR SUPPORT Unit. She has held progressive leadership positions in the health sector\, at the provincial and national levels\, in both government and not-for-profit organizations. Her previous posts have included a strong focus on knowledge translation including in-depth work on relationship building\, stakeholder outreach and engagement\, and knowledge translation infrastructure development. She has a PhD in medical history\, and has been actively engaged in health-based research and education for nearly 15 years. Dr. Petermann is published in the areas of medical history\, knowledge exchange\,gambling science\, and cancer prevention and screening. \nThere is no cost to attend the sessions\, but registration is required. The in-person sessions will take place in the following location – please select the means you plan to attend when you select your ticket: \nUniversity of Calgary – Room O1504\, Health Sciences Centre (Limited spaces available) \nOnline Access – Please register for the online access ticket by February 28th at 12:00pm.
