SUMMARY:Banff Annual Seminar in Cognitive Science (BASICS) 2017
DESCRIPTION:The 36th meeting of BASICS will be held in 2017 on Friday\, May 5 and Saturday\, May 6.\n\nThe conference will begin Friday afternoon with an invited talk at 5:00; four other talks will be presented on Saturday. There will be a poster session and reception Friday evening after dinner\, and another poster session will be held Saturday after lunch. Submissions for the poster sessions are invited on any aspect of cognitive science.\n\n\nThis year’s speakers will be:\n· Daniel Smilek (University of Waterloo)\n· Craig Chapman (University of Alberta\n· Susanne Ferber (University of Toronto)\n· Anthony Singhal (University of Alberta)\n· Alejandro Lleras (University of Illinois)\n\n\nBASICS will be held this year at the Inns of Banff. A block of rooms at the Inns has been reserved for the conference dates at the conference rate of $119/night (Canadian) for a single or double occupancy\, excluding tax. This block of rooms will be held until April 4\, 2017\, although rooms may be available for some period of time after that date.\n\nTo book a room at The Inns\, you should:\n· visit the website\, http://www.bestofbanff.com;\n· under “Reservations\,” select Inns of Banff for the destination;\n· enter “basics2017” as the promotional code;\n· and enter the other information needed to complete your reservation.\n\nThe registration deadline is April 4. The updated registration fee is $85 (Canadian) for faculty and $40 (Canadian) for students. Dr Nichola De Zanche from the Cross Cancer Institute is this year’s organizer.  \nThe format will be similar to past years and include a distinguished invited speaker and talks from senior trainees. \nThe registration web site will go live in April 2017 where you can register and request a rapid-fire talk. \nPlease note that a 3-day Workshop will follow the symposium and will run 9-11 May 2017.
