DESCRIPTION:Neuroimaging in Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders Symposium\nJune 9-10\, 2017 – Calgary\, AB\, Canada\nCourse Co-Directors: Oury Monchi\, PhD and Antonio P. Strafella\, MD\, PhD\nCourse Description\nThis course features an internationally renowned faculty of researchers\, scientists and clinicians who will present on advances in neuroimaging techniques to understand the pathophysiology of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and related movement disorders\, to diagnose parkinsonian syndromes and monitor disease progression. \nDuring two exciting days\, the course will cover different imaging techniques such as: positron emission tomography (PET)\, single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)\, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)\, and transcranial sonography. \nYoung investigators will be invited to submit abstracts for a poster presentation\, where they will be asked to indicate whether they want to be considered for oral presentation. The abstracts will be forwarded to the Scientific Advisory Board which will select the two abstracts with the most scientific interest with respect to the conference themes. The main author of each selected abstract will be invited to give a brief oral presentation\, as reflected in the course program. Please note that abstracts submitted should not be submitted for publication. Deadline is April 17\, 2017 and notification is the first two weeks of May 2017.

DESCRIPTION:The 36th meeting of BASICS will be held in 2017 on Friday\, May 5 and Saturday\, May 6.\n\nThe conference will begin Friday afternoon with an invited talk at 5:00; four other talks will be presented on Saturday. There will be a poster session and reception Friday evening after dinner\, and another poster session will be held Saturday after lunch. Submissions for the poster sessions are invited on any aspect of cognitive science.\n\n\nThis year’s speakers will be:\n· Daniel Smilek (University of Waterloo)\n· Craig Chapman (University of Alberta\n· Susanne Ferber (University of Toronto)\n· Anthony Singhal (University of Alberta)\n· Alejandro Lleras (University of Illinois)\n\n\nBASICS will be held this year at the Inns of Banff.
